Autumn 2020 newsletter

Welcome to the Autumn 2020 edition of our newsletter.

Welcome back

It is lovely to see everybody back in nursery, it has been a very long time for some children that haven't returned to nursery since the beginning of Lockdown. Children are now settling back in nicely to our nursery routines. Our team have worked extremely hard following Government guidelines to make sure we have rigorous procedures in place to ensure we can keep our children and staff team as safe as possible.

Working in Partnership

It has been fantastic to keep in touch with parents over the Summer holidays and see what our little ones have been up to. We are really grateful for the lovely photos that have been shared with us. Thank you to those parents who have sent in their Return to Nursery Development Form, this will help us have a more holistic idea of the development stage children are currently at when they have been absent from nursery for a long time.

New children

It has been lovely to welcome so many new children into nursery in September, everybody has settled in really well. We look forward to getting to know all of our new parents and welcoming you into our Little Butterflies family.

What we have been up to

We have been spending time getting to know our new children, finding out about their interests and planning activities around them. Our children are really interested in dinosaurs at the moment so lots of activities have had dinosaurs at the centre. We have had painty dinosaurs, dinosaur hunts, used maths to categorise and measure dinosaurs. We have loved sharing dinosaur stories and making junk model dinos.

Covid updates

We would like to ask for your support and insist that children displaying symptoms of Corona Virus are not brought into nursery. If your child is displaying any of the symptoms they must remain at home and access a Corona Virus test. If your child has a temperature, a continuous cough or is experiencing a change in or loss of taste or smell they must stay at home. If you are concerned about the health of your child please contact 111 for advice and keep nursery informed.

Nursery stories

We love to share stories in nursery, one of our favourites at the moment is The Gruffalo, we are trying to learn our nursery rules through The Gruffalo e.g. Mr Gruffalo says " Be kind", " Say sorry".

In nursery we use Makaton to support spoken language, this is particularly useful for non-verbal children and helps support their communication. Mr Tumble is really useful if anyone would like to learn a few signs. In nursery we regularly use the signs for please, thank you, more, sit down and milk. Maybe you would like to learn more at home by googling Mr.Tumble you will find all his songs online.

Happy 5th Birthday Little Cygnets

We hope you will join with us in wishing our sister nursery, Little Cygnets a Happy 5th Birthday. We had hoped to invite everyone along to a big Birthday party but due to the current situation we are unable to join in with the fun!

Meet n Greet

Unfortunately due to the current restrictions we are unable to hold this term's Meet n Greet sessions. However we will be sending home individual progress reports and feedback forms. We would really appreciate your input. Many thanks for your continued support.

Picking up and dropping off

Please remember to drop off and pick up your child at your contracted time each day. Children arriving early for their session or getting picked up after their session has finished may cause us ratio issues. Please see Leanne or Irene if you would wish to change your child's hours.

We will be celebrating Halloween week commencing 19th October, join us for lots of slimey, gloopy fun!

Children In Need

We will be raising funds on Friday 13th November 2020 in aid of Children In Need, come along in your PJs or spots for a fun-filled day.

Christmas 2020

On the run up to Christmas we will be very busy making our cards and crafts for you all to share at home. We will also be sending home your child's Cauliflower Xmas card design if you would like to order any please follow the instructions on the form. Our last week will be a fun-filled week, come along to nursery in your Xmas jumpers or outfits and join in the fun. We may have a special visitor in nursery that week as we won't be able to have our normal soft play Xmas party.
